John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester was a controversial figure in the reign of Charles II. A bright and witty man, sadly he drank, he debauched and he womanised his way through life - he was a true libertine and a rake. He died at the age of thirty-three of a combination of the effects of syphilis and alcohol, having had a deathbed conversion. He was buried in Spelsbury church in Oxfordshire close to his birthplace. In this video, I explore his life and go in search of his burial place, which though unmarked was discovered around forty years ago.
