Hi, everyone. Did you know that it takes two weeks for the full protective effect of your 'flu vaccine to kick in?
That's something to consider as we're now just one month away from Christmas Day.
At this time of year, there is a lot of intergenerational mixing and that's a good thing.
But I am particularly concerned about this in the context of rising levels of 'flu and RSV.
'Flu season has kicked off earlier this year and the number of RSV cases continues to rise, jumping by 100 to 730 in the last week.
The majority of these cases are in small children and in the over 65s.
'Flu vaccinations help boost your protection and it's available free of charge for the over 65s and as a nasal spray for children aged 2 to 17.
So, please make an appointment to get yours today if you haven't already.
The same measures that help prevent the spread of COVID - such as hand cleaning, mask wearing, ventilating spaces and good cough and sneeze etiquette - also help to prevent the spread of 'flu, RSV and other viruses.
