How to get in touch with people on LinkedIn and how to build and expand your professional network.
Want to land a $700K+ PM role at a top 50 Big Tech firm? (Free Resource)
👇
I spend a lot of time here pulling back the curtain on product management in big tech.
Showing you that there's really nothing special about PMs at these companies.
Trying to set the right expectations so you don't glorify these organizations so much.
But people still write me asking if I think they're "qualified" to go in for the interviews at these FAANG+ companies.
So I spent 100+ hours creating an email course to help you:
🎯 Crack the interview code and perform in the top 1% of candidates
💼 Secure L6+ roles with higher compensation packages
🌍 Receive multiple offers from top firms in the Bay Area, Seattle, and New York

I frequently get questions about the right way to expand your professional network, to "do business networking", to meet people and to maintain those relationships. In this video, we'll talk about the strategy and tactics of long-term professional networking, which will provide you with many unexpected and wonderful opportunities down the line. Let's dig in!
Chapters:
0:00 Intro
0:53 Think long-term
1:43 Seek to add value
3:18 Make it personal
5:14 Engage in conversation
6:16 Expand your worldview
1. Network with a long-term goal in mind
Expanding your professional network should be thought of as a long-term effort, rather than an attempt to solve a short-term problem. Think of networking as something you will be working on during the next 5-10 years. As you expand and develop your network, you will find that you start to get unexpected and wonderful opportunities, and this net effect will snowball exponentially (but only in the long term!)
2. Think how you can add value
Rather than approaching someone with a request for something, think about how you can help this person instead. How can you change your approach so that you add value to this person? People tend to gravitate toward those that provide insights, share and have an overall desire to help others. Tyr to incorporate these elements into your strategic thinking. Don't think "what can I get from this person?" but rather "how can I help or be helpful to this person?"
3. Make it personal and engage in conversation!
Read up about what this person is interested in, what topics they are discussing or areas they have questions about. Rather than thinking about what you need, focus on what this person may be interested in or excited about. Then, join the conversation and offer an informed opinion on the subject, ask a meaningful question, or dive deeper into the topic. Tag this person into the conversation: "What do you think of this approach?" or "Saw you were talking about X, and thought you may find this interesting".
I know a few folks that have built their entire businesses on networking. They are always meeting new people they find intriguing and always try to deliver value to their ever-growing network and help everyone they know get what they want.
Remember -- you can have anything you want -- as long as you help enough other people get what they want. :)
4. Expand your horizons
Explore topics and areas that you are not well familiar with. You will find serendipitous connections when your network has lots of different people from different backgrounds working on and interested in lots of different subjects.
It is said that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Make sure you're being proactive about your network!
