Ovulation pain exists on a spectrum of being unaware that it is happening to intense pain for a day. Ovulation can be accompanied by cramp like pain and bleeding from the vagina.
For much of history (and still today) women have had their pain trivialized or dismissed. Ovulation pain is a REAL phenomenon. If you have ever had your pain dismissed or have been told that it isn't real I hope this video will bring you some validation.
I'm hopeful that we can change some of that by educating and speaking about these topics frankly.

So what is ovulation?
Ovulation is the process in which a mature egg is released from the ovary. After it's released, the egg moves down the uterine tube and stays there for 12 to 24 hours, where it can be fertilized.
So where does the pain come from?
Your Ovaries are rich in multiple types of nerve fibers. Some control the function of the ovary and other sense pressure and pain. Just like other places in the body the density of the nerves can vary from person to person. This is why some women feel nothing and others have intense sensations (and pain).
