Vintage Tudor Oyster Prince ref. 7909
The Tudor 7909 Oyster Prince is a watch for the die-hard luxury watch collector or even someone who appreciates vintage mechanical watches with character and provenance.
Tudor produced several iterations of the series after introducing it in the early 1950s, including the 34mm model Justin has chosen this week. Also known as the Tudor Big Rose, it sports a prominent Tudor rose logo at 12 o’clock. It also has a retro quadrant dial and smiley text featuring the “self-winding” text in an upward curve.
The Tudor brand is special and highly regarded by avid luxury watch collectors because of its close association with Rolex and its much more affordable price point. In many cases, including the watch Justin has chosen this week, Tudor also utilizes Rolex parts, offering the wearer tremendous value.

Vintage Rolex Explorer ref 1016
Rolex produced the iconic 4-digit Explore ref 1016 for three impressive decades, during which the collection was available with either a glossy or matte dial, Radium or Tritium lume, flat or curved hands, and either the caliber 1560 or 1570 movement.
As you can imagine, ref. 1016 is a fascinating watch to study and collect. Brandon’s pick, circa 1966, was initially outfitted with a glossy dial and was later upgraded to a matte service replacement dial with modern Luminova.
The featured model also sports a period-correct rivet link bracelet with a clasp stamped 1966 and the caliber 1570 movement.
Brandon’s pick will appeal to collectors with its effortless balance of vintage charm and modern lume.
