STORYLINE:
Protesters in Nairobi skirmished with Kenyan riot police on a second day of opposition protests on Thursday, but demonstrations across the edgy East African nation appeared to be losing steam under a police crackdown.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga, who accuses President Mwai Kibaki of stealing a December 27 presidential vote, claimed that seven people had been shot and killed on Thursday.
A police spokesman said police killed two "criminal" protesters, one in western Kenya and one in Nairobi.
