Marys Peak is a 2-point Summit on the Air (SOTA W7O/CC-001) summit located within Siuslaw National Forest (POTA K-4384). At ~4,100 feet, this summit is popular for the 360 degree views, and hiking trails. The views started in the parking area, which was mostly empty on a mid-week summer day.
The short hike to summit is approx. 1.1 miles total with 300 feet of gain. Summit area is broad with great views, and even on a quieter day there were many visitors. I spent a few hours on summit making contacts on VHF and HF. 4 contacts were made on the 2m band using an Elk Log Periodic antenna. I then took my time making contacts on HF using both the Wolf River Coils vertical antenna and SOTABEAMS 4-band Linked Dipole. Thank you for all chasers!
At the end of a 3-day SOTA/POTA camping trip exploring 5 summits, I definitely enjoyed Marys Peak as the last summit before heading back home. This summit has been activated many times, and worth it if you are ever in the area!
Keep learning and exploring!
