A full year account building an all natural bark roof bushcraft shelter from cold deep snow to the fall leaves. Using only Natural Materials I Build a Primitive Bark Roof Lean to Survival Shelter in the Snow and Cook all my food over a campfire, I stay overnight and wake to a fresh snowfall. Winter has arrived and transformed the forest into a beautiful blanket of white. I liget my fires with a knife quartz rock and chaga which I also drink for tea. I return in deep winter to fin the shelter is in good shape. I close in the sides and stay overnight the temperature drops to near -30 C but I am warm with my fur blanket. !..5 months later I return to check on the shelter. I make a bow drill fire and cook. The shelter has held up well over they year with no maintenance and a harsh winter.
.
There are not many materials to effectively make a waterproof shelter but I manage two huge pieces if Basswood bark I carefully remove from a fallen tree. I also use boughs well as branches, sticks and twigs as bedding to insulate and make a comfortable sleeping platform. I also had minimal Gear Just My Axe, Saw, 2 knives, 2 cups, sleeping bag, fur blanket & backpack. This is in Ontario Canada.
