PlayNitride impressed attendees with a number of microLED demos. For example, over the entrance to their booth was an 8K x 1K digital signage board with a 0.43 mm pitch and 3000 nit of luminance. Inside the booth was a 7.56" quantum dot converted microLED display on LTPS. A second version was shown with a touch screen added. Yet a third version was on transparent substrate with a transparency of more than 60%. A fourth version was fabricated with a polyimid substrate and shown as a flexible display solution.
They also showed a 1.39" circular microLED display with high ppi and a 1.58" square display.
For automotive, three microLED-based displays were show: a 11.6" 2400x900, 1.58" 256x256 and a 9.38" 960x480 transparent. The transparent display output around 800 nits while the other two were around 1000 nits.
The latest device is a monolithic microLED with a silicon backplane. It is a 0.49" full color device with 4536 ppi withy quantum dot photolithography color conversion and 50K nits.
