Here I take you through a quick install of the Select Surfaces Laminate flooring. This video is also good for most laminate installs as well.
* The padding on this flooring works fine as a vapor barrier on wood sub-floors, but not on a concrete slab that can have moisture issues. If you are installing over concrete, first lay a barrier like a 4 mil plastic sheeting.
* In the video I say use a 3/16 in gap at the walls and I meant to say 3/8 in. Normally a 1/4 in to 3/8 in gap is fine. Do double check your manufacturer guidelines. I was just notified that this flooring actually wants a 5/8 in gap if your run is 25 foot wide. I think that is a bit ridiculous. Most baseboards can not cover that and then you would be required to add a quarter round. But that is a requirement for the warranty, so keep that in mind.
