The second edition of Off the Wall presents works by Charmaine Chen, Lee Wan Xiang, and Wu Yanrong. Titled Nourish, this edition invites exploration of the multifaceted idea of food and nourishment through the unique perspectives of these artists. Over the next two months, the art space will transform into a dynamic canvas, where artists will live-paint murals that interpret the theme of food in diverse and imaginative ways. From the warmth of communal meals to the rich tapestry of food history, each mural tells a unique story, inviting viewers to reflect on the various roles food plays in our lives.

In this interview: In this conversation, Fangqing hosts a group interview with artists Charmaine, Wan Xiang, and Yanrong for the Off The Wall Exhibition at Art Outreach. The exhibition, themed "Nourish," features live painting of wall murals, with the public invited to witness the creative process. The artists discuss their comfort foods, their reactions to the theme, and their creative processes. Charmaine experimented with textures and aging techniques, Wan Xiang explored motifs like insects and fungi, and Yanrong focused on a red grouper fish. They reflect on the importance of pushing boundaries, the joy of community interaction, and the significance of their work. The conversation ends with a playful exercise where each artist sketches the others' comfort foods.

Off the Wall is a sustainable art exhibition series, featuring artists live-painting wall murals in Art Outreach's gallery space over a period of two months. During this time, the public is invited to visit and witness the creative process firsthand! The site-specific murals will then be photographed in high-resolution, and made into prints for public purchase in support of the artists and Art Outreach.
