🏆 Meet Francesca, a Top 50 finalist of the Chegg.org #GlobalStudentPrize 2023!
🇺🇸 Despite experiencing profound poverty growing up, Francesca was inspired to help women disempowered by emotional and psychological abuse in her community.
📕 After participating in a social work internship, she founded her non-profit organization, Omena, which aims to teach Malagasy children and adolescents how to recognize emotional abuse in their relationships.
❤️🩹 Since then, Omena has become an award-winning international nonprofit, partnering with NGOs and Madagascar’s Ministry of Education to help students in underserved communities where there are high rates of emotional abuse.
🏅 In the past three years, Omena’s impact has been recognized by UNICEF, the Clinton Global Initiative, the Davis Project for Peace, TEDx, Forbes Under 30, MTV, the Boston Globe, and many more.
✨ With the Global Student Prize funds, Francesca would give extra support to Omena’s programs both online and on the ground – unlocking the immense potential to take the organization to the next level of impact.
