Thank you very much for always choosing Choo-Choo Travel!
This time, we visited the "Hara Model Railway Museum," located about 25 minutes by train from Tokyo, the central hub of Japan, and just a 7-minute walk from Yokohama Station. We thoroughly enjoyed the world's best model railways here. The highlight was seeing Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends, which were used in television filming 40 years ago! It was an incredible experience to see them up close, meticulously preserved without any scratches, and even running right beside us. The museum staff were incredibly kind and provided detailed explanations, making us feel truly fortunate.
The museum, curated by Mr. Hara, offers a nostalgic scenery and trains, with a central station building inspired by Paris, France. Besides the purchased items, many models were handmade by Mr. Hara himself. We witnessed trains powered not by the tracks but by overhead wires via pantographs, and the materials used for the tracks closely resemble real iron, providing an authentic sound experience. Although not particularly spacious, the museum offers enjoyable simulator rides, including the world's largest diorama.
In addition to the railway models, we'll also be sharing a separate video of our visit to the Cup Noodles Museum, located nearby in Yokohama, where we even created our own original Cup Noodles!
