Triumph Trident 660 is set to upset the 650 and beginner segments, offering a seriously polished motorcycle, with Triumph's famous smaller triple-cylinder, a chassis that offers all the thrills of the larger Street Triples and a formidable brake and suspension package.
Priced at $12,900 ride-away here in Australia the Trident 660 is on the premium end of the LAMS market, but sits a decent step below the Street Triple S in price, while realistically offering a machine that will appeal to all riders, not just beginners.
A punchy powerplant is all mid-range torque with incredibly smooth fueling, suspension is non adjustable except for preload on the rear but feels seriously sorted, with a nice balance of sportiness and an edge of plushness on the rear. Nissin two-piston brakes aren't Brembos but are well suited to the bike, offering good power and modulation, backed by ABS.
Add in suave neo-retro looks, a comfortable seat, great mirrors and controls, plus a clear TFT dash with plenty of options and you're onto a class leading winner, that while on the premium end of things is likely to have the competition taking note. Here's my review.
