The character of Olive Oyl when i saw the storyboard and Max Fleischer showed it to me i thought there is an actress that sort of reminds me of a "SCRAWNY" lady (ZaSu Pitts) that's always using her hands and saying Uhmhm & i thought that should sound like Olive Oyl a crackly kind of voice "Yoo-Hoo" here i am! It's Olive Oyl! and of course Max liked the voice and we used it. Since then i have been Swee'Pea and the Sea Hag who is a witch who says "Go Forth Popeye I'll Kill You...You!"
Jack Mercer who was Popeye for many years was a talented man and he did alot of voices. This morning i watched a Popeye & Olive Oyl and i got such a big kick out of it. I still... have a contract with King Features for Popeye & Olive Oyl.
