In this video I went 5/5 shots on-target using BDC hold-over, while shooting my custom build 16" .300 Blackout with my subsonic handloads @ the 200 yard gong, using only a Vortex Spitfire 3x prism scope, and the BDC reticle and some kentucky-windage.
I'm also shooting through my new Dead Air Sandman-S MIL-Contract (DEVGRU) suppressor in FDE finish. Internally it is the exact same as the regular Sandman-S (Stellite baffles, 17-4Ph stainless tube, standard KeyMo mount), but it has the FDE finish, and a special MIL (NSN) serial number on it, proving it was an actual MIL contract production suppressor. At the uploading of this video, there are still a handful of them available at Silencer Shop, which is where I get all my cans.
The handloads consist of Berger 210 VLD bullets and Alliant 300-MP powder. I couldn't find any load data for this combo, so I had to work up a load for my rifle to get right around the 1,075-1,085 FPS, to keep them under the 1,100 FPS subsonic threshold, even when getting a slight bit of suppressor boost, plus the 16" barrel length. I found that using 10.5 grains of powder, with CCI 400 primers, in Remington (R-P) factory .300 BLK brass worked perfect, and was JUST under the supersonic velocity node. Needless to say, they're pretty consistent and accurate...As you can see. They shoot REALLY well in my rifle, which has an older Rainier Arms Match barrel with 5R rifling, and a 8.5" twist rate. This rifle shoots MOA (or better) with everything I've put through it @ 100 yards (where I do the bulk of my load development). As accurate as this combo is, I might put an LPVO on it, and use it for some quiet deer hunting this upcoming season.
In the future I will get some open-air sound videos so it cuts down on the echo of being inside an enclosed area, and sounds more realistic to what you will hear outdoors and while hunting.
More to come in the future.
I get all of my Suppressors, Tax Stamps, and Trusts through Silencer Shop.
