Lant Pritchett, RISE Research Director, on the need for a systems research approach: "We feel that part of the deep answer to why kids aren't learning is that the systems they are embedded in really aren't coherent around learning, and hence changing one piece of the puzzle isn't going to give you a clear picture. We really need to see the whole big picture in order to get to the big answer."
