The Caspian Jazz and Blues Festival was founded in 2002 and ran through 2005 producing the first international appearances in Azerbaijan by headline jazz artists free of charge. This video is one of many live performances recorded by Lider TV at the inaugural festival in 2002. The festival featured an equal presentation of international and Azeri artists over 4 days of events free to the public thanks to the generosity of the U.S. Embassy and the international business community. In addition, the festival featured several days of jazz education by American and European artists in Baku's leading music schools culminating in the Baku Youth Big Band.
