POPULATION D'AFRIQUE N°13 : In November 2019, the international community celebrated the 25th anniversary of the ICPD in Nairobi. It was marked by the participation of young people, engaged in a partnership with UNFPA. According to projections, by 2065, more than 30% of the population will be made of young people, and in this regard, the demographic dividend is a real development opportunity. However, young people should be involved in the decision-making process. The ICPD also provided an opportunity to evaluate the SWEDD initiative, a joint World Bank, UNFPA and country project that will be extended until 2023, and to make an assessment of the efforts needed to achieve the goals set in Cairo in 1994.
