Monsoons in Mumbai is my off season for growing due to rain and wind damage along with complete lack of sun due to overcast skies . However I have had the garden surprise me 2 years in a row , last season was my volunteer muskmelon harvest [ Ссылка ] and this year it has been the Thai Prik Kee Noo hot chilly pepper that grew against all odds .
The story of the Thai Prik Kee Noo pepper plants in my container garden celebrates the spirit of the underdog in its true sense. Here were a few seeds planted in a container just to see what happens. Since I was not expecting any success I did not take pictures or videos of the progress until I realised I am too late !!!
The seedlings survived through 2 transplants as per space and sun exposure after which I finally transplanted them into the container you see in this video. I did not have the time or inclination to really care for these plants as I had renovations for 4 months after which monsoons arrived. Normally plants don't survive in my garden in the rains due to wind and rain damage , however these 2 did in the window I put them in, as it is not in the direction of the winds and rains . No fuss, no disease , lo and behold we had happy peppers on the plants turning a beautiful fiery red . Plants in this window will get only 2 to 4 hours of sun through out the year.
After losing countless pepper plants started from seed to disease, I am now motivated to grow peppers from seed again after this pleasant surprise .
