Reports suggest that the Karnataka government is considering a 4% Muslim quota in government contracts. The proposal, allegedly pushed by the chief minister's political secretary, has sparked controversy, with the BJP accusing the Congress of minority appeasement. The chief minister's office denies any such move, stating that it is merely a draft proposal. The BJP alleges that the quota would be given by taking away from SCs, STs and OBCs. The issue is being used by the BJP to corner the Congress in the election states of Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
