In 2021, UKRI awarded £12.4M of funding to marine research projects that would address critical gaps in understanding that have been identified by UK policy makers. 6 projects are being funded and are showing the tools and interventions that they have specifically produced to inform policy, regulation, and management.
This video is a project presentation of the "Co-benefit Solutions for Resilient Coasts (Co-Opt)" project. The overarching goal of this project is to deliver a new integrated and interdisciplinary system-based framework that will effectively support the required transition from hard ‘grey’ defences to softer ‘green’ solutions in coastal and shoreline management.
The presentation was made at the SMMR Symposium, held in Glasgow, November 2024.
