It’s a known fact that Singaporeans LOVE TO EAT, and dessert is no exception! In this Video we wanted to explore the cafes and bakeries that are taking delicious traditional Asian flavours from local desserts & Kuehs and putting a new spin on them!
👉🏻 I (Hello it’s Tessa!) grew up between two cultures, born & raised in the UK but still visiting my Singapore family every couple of years, so whilst I’m not familiar with Asian desserts completely, I remember growing up trying various dishes, jellies & kuehs (bite-sized snack or dessert foods commonly found in Southeast Asia, usually made from rice or glutinous rice) as a kid, being introduced to flavours such as Pandan, Gula Melaka & Green Tea from a young age.
For those travelling through Singapore, or perhaps for those of you who live here but have just never been properly introduced to Asian desserts & don’t know where to start, they can seem a little intimidating (or perhaps just a bit strange) being unfamiliar tastes and territory. We wanted to highlight some of the places that are making these flavours more accessible, and in the process discovered a bunch of great spots!
👉🏻 Whilst I’m sure there are plenty more worth checking out, we whittled it down to some of the sweets we thought were the most interesting — and they didn’t disappoint! We had so much fun exploring different flavours, but also venturing around different parts of Singapore (& meeting some of the loveliest people along the way too!)

👉🏻 We really hope you enjoy the video. Please do let us know if you try any of the spots, & let us know what you think… or even better, if you have any suggestions of places for us to try next time then please do drop us a comment. Oh, and if you have any dessert lover friends, don’t forget to share the video with them, after all — sharing (cake) is caring!
Until next time!
