In honor of Parkinson’s Awareness Month, Inova Parkinson's and Movement Disorders Co-Director Dr. Drew Falconer is raising awareness about the benefits of telehealth - connecting with your doctor from the comfort of your home and eliminating the need to travel (maybe getting stuck in traffic), wait in a lobby and spend more time in traveling back home (even more traffic).
Dr. Falconer also shares that Inova Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Center was just selected among the first medical centers in the US and first in Virginia and the greater DC metro area to offer a new, first-of-its-kind, remote neuromodulation technology for patients who have received deep brain stimulation (DBS) for treatment of Parkinson’s and essential tremors conditions.
The use of remote neuromodulation is a system called NeuroSphere™ Virtual Clinic by Abbott Laboratories. It helps patients to communicate with his/her physician in real time through a clinic app and to ensure proper settings and functionality, and receive new treatment settings remotely as needed.
