"Anyone can be a leader." The Youth Disability Advocacy Service (YDAS) is running a program for young Victorians with disability who are emerging leaders.
You can apply for the YDAS Young Leaders Program if you:
• are aged between 14 – 25 and
• identify as having a disability, being Deaf, neurodiverse and/or having lived experience of mental health issues.
Emanuel was a participant in the YDAS Young Leaders Program. His advice for emerging young leaders is "Don't be scared... it might be intimidating at first but I'd just say, go for it. If you feel confident enough then I don't see why not, because anyone can be a leader."
The YDAS Young Leaders Program sessions are based around developing advocacy, communication, teamwork, community outreach, and leadership skills while working towards completing a Duke of Edinburgh or Bridge Award (not mandatory).
