Cutting baseboard vertically and keeping it straight can be a challenge! Cutting baseboard everyday I use this method all the time and have come to figure out why it works out. Most people using a multi tool to cut baseboard usually tries the plung cut method which will never make a true straight cut. First problem is the way an Oscillating tool works by vibrating up and down. This causes the blade to hit parts that aren't being cut causing it to hit and bounce. The second is more surface area of the teeth of the blade grabbing. Third is damage to the tool itself having to hold it tighter to the cutting area doesn't allow the blade to do it's job efficiently. This puts more heat and binding the tool.I hope this has helped.
