How to easily create a patina on silver using household ingredients. Black salt and hot water create a solution that will antique silver quickly. Black salt is a natural table salt that's volcanic in origin. It smells strongly of sulfur, which is good for us, as the tarnish we're looking for is silver sulfide. Available at many grocery stores and bulk food stores. Pro tip: Don't use your wife's silver spoons to mix up the solution ;)
