* VISUALLY EXPLAINED
In this video I explain the basics of what happens inside your engine when the Choke is applied for too long. Too much Choke basically.
If the engine is given too much choke, it can result in several issues:
Rich Mixture: Choke restricts the airflow into the carburetor, increasing the fuel-to-air ratio. Too much choke makes the mixture excessively rich, meaning there is an excessive amount of fuel compared to air. This rich mixture can flood the engine with fuel, making it difficult to start.
Hard Starting: Excessive choke can cause hard starting. The engine might not start at all, or if it does, it could stall shortly after starting.
Black Smoke: When the mixture is too rich, incomplete combustion can occur, leading to the production of black smoke from the exhaust. This is a sign of wasted fuel and decreased engine efficiency.
Fouled Spark Plug: The rich mixture can lead to the fouling of the spark plug, which can further hinder the engine's ability to start and run properly.
Poor Performance: Once the engine is running, too much choke will cause it to run poorly, with reduced power, increased fuel consumption, and potential engine damage due to the excessive richness of the mixture.
To avoid these issues, it's essential to use the choke sparingly and only for cold starts when the engine needs a richer mixture. Gradually reduce the choke as the engine warms up to achieve the right air-fuel mixture for optimal performance.
In explaining this effectively I have had to go back and explain how the choke system works and include how the carburetor, engine and choke work work together.
I hope you benefit from this video.
Many thanks indeed
