An ongoing dispute over Indigenous treaty rights prompted hundreds of supporters to gather in Halifax on Sunday. Fierce clashes outside fish plants in southwestern Nova Scotia last week culminated in a weekend fire that destroyed a lobster pound used to store the catch of Mi’kmaq fishers. The attacks prompted a show of solidarity as hundreds of people gathered at Grand Parade Square to show support for Mi’kmaq fishers.
