Track 3 from his fourth album, “Just Before The Bullets Fly” copyright 1988 Epic Records. His best solo album, in my opinion, with strong material and the band performing at their peak. Dan Toler’s emotional guitar playing and unique sound are a highlight that I feel should have made this album more successful. The Allman Brothers Band would reunite the following year for a summer tour to celebrate their twentieth anniversary. That reunion would lead to them signing with Epic and releasing a string of new albums, beginning with “Seven Turns” in 1990. Written by William Armstrong, Wilbur Terrell & Marcus Daniels and produced by Rodney Mills. RIP Dan Toler, Bruce Waibel, David Toler & Gregory Lenoir Allman. Featuring:
Gregg Allman – Lead vocals & Hammond B-3 organ
“Dangerous” Dan Toler – Lead & rhythm guitars, keyboards on “Night Games”
Tim Heding – Keyboards & background vocals
Bruce Waibel – Bass & background vocals
David “Frankie” Toler – Drums
Chaz Trippy – Percussion
What would I give for just a few moments?
What would I give, oh, just to have you near?
Tell me you will try to slip away somehow
Oh, I need you darlin', I need you right now
So slip away, slip away, slip away, yeah, yeah, yeah
I need you so
Now I know it's wrong, the things I ask you to do
But please believe me darlin', I don't mean to hurt you
But could you just try to slip away without him knowin' you're gone?
Then we could meet somewhere, somewhere all alone
Darlin', slip away, slip away, slip away, yeah, yeah, yeah
I need you so
Oh, love, how sweet it is
The way you make me feel sometimes, darlin', how sweet it is
So slip away, slip away, slip away, yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh, Lord, how sweet it is
The way you make me feel sometime, darlin'
How sweet it is, oh
Oh, slip away, baby
Tiptoe out the back door without him knowin' you're gone
Oh, I need ya, just slip away
