During World War II, the Navy trained nearly 15,000 pilots to take off and land on makeshift aircraft carriers on Lake Michigan. During the course of the training, 130 planes ended up at the bottom of the lake. Now, there’s an effort to rescue and restore some of those planes. “Great Lakes Now” visited the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to get a closer look at the efforts.
