There's some good news for fishermen and seine netters.
Sardine season has arrived.
Shoals of the popular little silvery fish were netted at Hibberdene and Margate on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast.
The annual migration of sardines from the Eastern Cape northwards along the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal usually occurs in the winter months in June and July.
Known as the 'sardine run', the shoals attract dolphins, sharks, whales and seabirds and have become a popular tourist attraction for the province.
