The first USS Saratoga, a sloop of the Continental Navy, is the topic of today's video. A ship that began a long legacy of service, that continued from when she vanished in a storm, right up through the 1990s with some breaks here and there. One of the oldest and most stories names in the United States Navy, one can only hope it is brought back some day.
The sloop, herself, had a rocky start before becoming one of the most successful ships in the Continental Navy, for all that she only served for about a year before vanishing in a storm.
(None of the pictures, alas, are of the actual ship. To my knowledge there are no contemporary depictions of the original Saratoga, so anything is conjecture or other similar ships for examples)
