[EXCLUSIVE] Umno is slated to have its Annual General Meeting in nine more days.
All eyes are, once again, transfixed on Umno given the party’s worst electoral performance since its maiden defeat in the 14th General Election (GE14) in 2018.
To put things into perspective, in GE14 Umno won 54 parliamentary seats but in GE15 the numbers were halved to 26.
In a face-to-face sit-down, Umno information chief Isham Jalil spoke on the significance of the coming January 11 assembly especially following the party’s eyebrow-raising decision to ally itself with its political nemesis — Pakatan Harapan.
During the interview Isham also weighed on the increasingly vocal calls for party delegate to push for Umno’s president post to be opened for contest in this year’s party election, believing that those who echoed such call was likely influenced by outsiders who wanted to sow internal disunity.
