Professor Brian Cox visits GrowUp Farms in London to discover how water from fish farms is being used to fertilise salad crops in vertical farming.
Is this the future of commercial farming? In a warehouse in London, next door to an indoor fish farm, rows and rows of herbs and salad leaves are being grown inside, on shelves. It’s called aquaponics – where nutrient-rich waste water from the fish is used to water the plants, making efficient use of space and resources.
