China's transport system will be pushed to its limits when millions of
travellers return home to celebrate the traditional Chinese New Year in early February. China's railways will be carrying most of the travellers, many of whom are workers who have moved from rural areas to the cities in search of better paying jobs.
The railways has been gearing up to transport 133 million people during the holiday season. Railroad officials have added 111 extra trains to the national network, pulling an additional 4,000 passenger carriages.
Train travellers say the state-run railway has improved dramatically during the past year -- reducing overcrowding, streamlining ticket sales and providing most travellers with seats for journeys across the country which can take several days.
