The last few weeks of pregnancy have new names. Do you know the terms for the home stretch? This short animated video, created by an education program at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, part of the National Institutes of Health, explains the new full-term definition, which is based on the latest research on babies’ health. Babies born at 37 and 38 weeks of pregnancy are now called “early term,” while babies born between 39 and 41 weeks are called “full term.”
