We’ve heard a lot about these in recent times.
So, what is a special counsel, what can they do? And is it something unique to the US?

So, before the announcement of the most recent Special Counsel, there were two assigned to Donald Trump.

Firstly Rober Mueller, then Trump’s latest Special Counsel, Jack Smith, is currently investigating the former president over a litany of accusations.
