Trying the Las Vegas Monorail for the first time. The Las Vegas Monorail runs from the MGM Grand in the South to the Las Vegas SLS Hotel and Casino which is near the Stratosphere.

We board at the Flamingo Hotel and head south to the MGM and then cross over to the Excalibur Hotel and to use the free tram which takes you the short distance to the Luxor and the Mandalay Bay.

Finally, we head back up north past the convention centre to the Westgate Hotel which for all you James Bond fans was used in ‘Diamonds are Forever’ as Willard Whyte’s ‘Whyte House’ hotel.

Is the Las Vegas Monorail worth taking? The stops between the Flamingo, Paris from the middle of the strip down to the MGM are very close together so it isn’t that far to walk. However, when the temperature is in the 40’s and the strip is packed with crowds the monorail does give you an easy, calm alternative way to get around.

The monorail is useful to get to the Las Vegas Convention Centre, the Westgate Hotel and the SLS Las Vegas. After our trip and the ease of the monorail, we are considering staying in the SLS Hotel next time.
