The third stop on the long drive from the Gold Coast to the Snowy 2.0 Project had me stopping at the Pilliga Sandstone Caves which is some 35Klms north of Coonabarabran. This wasn't on my list but found it well worth while!
Situated on a large sandstone outcrop, the Sandstone Caves are a heap of cathedral types caves and overhangs which have many interesting colours and shapes, which have formed over many thousands of years of taking a battering from the wind and rain. The Sandstone Caves are an Aboriginal site for local Gamilaraay people, and you will find rock art, grinding grooves etc.
Thanks for taking the time out to watch these episodes of the drive back from there GC, I hope you have enjoyed these POI's.
