As I learn to knit, I realize some of the self-help tutorials are really good, but then they don't apply to the pattern when the pattern is written differently. In the case of Yarnspirations, they write their instructions on the steps.

PSSO (pass slip stitch over) in generic tutorials don't always match up because the instructions may be passing slip stitch over a different type of stitch, which was happening in this case. If you are literal like me, you may make the same mistakes.
