Snorkelling in Cozumel, which included Palancar Reef, Columbia Reef, El Cielo and El Cielo Sandbank.
While on a family trip to Mexico we took the ferry over to Cozumel from Playa Del Carmen, were some of us booked on a Cozumel Snorkelling Trip, this is where we visited a number of reefs (swam between two), and visited a sandbank so some food and a cold beer.
We was looking forward to see a great array of sea life, seen lots of fish a ray in the distance, some starfish and sadly we did not spot any sea turtles which I was really hoping for.
I must admit the water is the best water I have ever dived in and the video does not do any justice. The ocean was calm and we had a great time.
We was told to wear a life jacket on the first jump in, which some people didn't, which if I had known wouldn't have wore one. The next time i did not wear one and enjoyed the snorkelling much better.
I must admit the water over in Cozumel while snorkelling is very buoyant and we found it hard to swim down, just floating back to the surface, as seen in the GoPro Footage.
The guide stayed on the boat, but his son's got in the water and were one with the ocean and could tell they do this quite often, you can see one quite a few times in the video with a white rash vest on. One down fall I found which I understand why they do it, the guy would have food in his pockets and would feed the fish so that the fish would come closer to us.
On our trip there was quite a few people and some not great swimmers so they would have a life ring which the guides would pull along so that the poor swimmers could keep up and swim with the group.
We used our own snorkels but the tour would lend you one if you require it, if you have your own make sure to get a dry top snorkel to stop water getting in the top. The one we used is this one: [ Ссылка ].
At one stage, so we didn't have to get back in the boat and out again, they throw out a line which we all held on to and was pulled along to the next swim site.
After all the snorkelling we pulled up to a sandbank at El Cielo Beach, were we had a nice cold beer and some Ceviche made by the boat captain. This was either spicy or not spicy, i asked to try the spicy and must admit i do like some spicy but that blew my head off.
