This is the perfect no fuss snack for when unexpected guests drop by. These Pork And Apple Sausage rolls take only 10 minutes to prepare and 25 minutes to cook. Better still, these yummy bites freeze really well. Make a double or triple batch and then freeze them, for a quick heat and eat snack.
Full Recipe: Pork And Apple Sausage Rolls
(Makes 18 really chunky and meaty sausage rolls)
250 grams good quality pork sausages or minced pork
400 grams prime minced beef
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 red onion chopped finely
1/3 cup good quality apple sauce
1 tsp dry sage
1 tsp dry thyme
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp Salt
Good grind of Black pepper
3 Defrosted puff pastry sheets (or 400 grams of puff pastry)
1 Egg + 1 tsp water for egg wash
1 Tbsp Sesame seeds
Vegetarian Version (Same method as above)
200 grams canned brown lentils drained
400 grams red kidney bean mashed
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 red onion chopped finely
1/3 cup good quality apple sauce
1 tsp dry sage
1 tsp dry thyme
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp Salt
Good grind of Black pepper
2 Defrosted puff pastry sheets (or 400 grams of puff pastry sheets)
Unsweetened almond milk to use as egg wash
1 Tbsp sesame seeds
Method of making:
1) Add first 10 ingredients to a mixing bowl and combine
2) Place your ingredients evenly in the middle of the pastry sheets
3) Start rolling your sausage rolls, away from you, until half way covered
4) Brush the exposed nearest seam with egg wash. Do likewise with
the seam farthest away.
5) Now roll up your sausage rolls finishing with the seam facing down
6) Brush with egg wash or almond milk and then sprinkle with sesame seeds
7) Cut each roll into 6 even pieces and place of greased baking tray
8) Cook on Fan Bake at 180 degrees C for 25 - 30 minutes or until golden brown
