(27 Jul 2018) The leaders of France, Spain and Portugal gathered in Lisbon on Friday for a a mini-summit on energy policy in the region.
Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron early Friday morning to the Portuguese capital and they were later joined by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
Also taking part in the meeting were Emma Navarro, the Vice President of the European Investment Bank, and Energy Commissioner Miguel Arias Canete.
European leaders are trying to raise the profile of the Iberian Peninsula for the European energy market, by exporting their surplus energy from renewables such as solar and wind.
