President Obama has made improving STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education in the U.S. a focal point of his administration. He has also called on the business community to join him in promoting STEM education initiatives that will lead to more resources for teachers and more engagement among students. Hitachi has responded to the President's call to action by partnering with several non-profit organizations and universities to improve the quality of STEM education by providing better resources for students and for teachers. Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc., in particular, has developing an outreach program around nanoscience using its TM3000 Scanning Electron Microscope which it loans out to schools, colleges, universities and science camps free of charge. HTA has also developed a website comprised of educator-curated learning modules and other teaching tools to help teachers educate students about nanoscience.
