The Scimitar Oryx is a magnificent and highly adapted species of antelope native to the deserts and arid regions of North Africa.
Perhaps the most astonishing fact about the scimitar oryx is that it was declared extinct in the wild in 2000. Currently, they are listed as "Extinct in the Wild" on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
