Imam Khomeini Square (previous letters: Topkhaneh Square, Sepah Square) is the name of a historical square located in the center of Tehran. This square was built in 1284 AH during the reign of Nasser al-Din Shah and by order of Amir Kabir, and the buildings around it have been destroyed and renovated many times. (Amir Kabir was killed in 1268 AH according to 1230 AH and was not alive at the time of construction of the square). Topkhaneh Square has long been the center of transportation and traffic in Tehran. This square is the intersection of the main and key streets of Tehran, so that Lalehzar and Ferdowsi streets, from the northeast and northwest, respectively; From the west of Imam Khomeini Street (Sepah Street); From the east, Amirkabir Street (electric light); Baba Homayoun and Naser Khosrow streets join the square from the southwest and southeast, respectively.
