A trip on the Southend Pier Railway!
Starting with a trip on a Greater Anglia class 321 Dusty Bin into Southend Victoria on arrival we see the Dusty Bins replacement, two of the Bombardier built in Derby class 720s, 720538 and 720537. The real surprise was seeing 37425 and 37422 with a rail head treatment train! 37425 Concrete Bob is seen in the heritage Regional Railways livery.
After walking through the town centre to the sea front we see the views from a lift tower before going to have a look at the funicular railway which wasn't running that day. We then arrive at Southend Pier itself where we enjoy a trip out to sea on the 3' gauge Southend Pier Railway. We travel on Severn Lamb built "Sir William Heygate", identical classmate "Sir John Betjeman" is seen stabled alongside at the shore station.
Out at see we visit the Lifeboat Station and see some shots of "Sir William Heygate" in action before walking back to land!
