Mahindra XUV400 electric will primarily rival Tata Nexon EV that is currently the top selling electric car in the country.
XUV400 will carry over the design of, the eXUV300 concept that was showcased at, the 2020 Auto Expo. Unlike the XUV300, the XUV400 is expected to measure, a little over 4 meters, given the fact that, there are no excise duty benefits for, sub-4 meter electric vehicles. This additional length of the XUV400, translates into a bigger boot, which is a weak point of the XUV300.
While Mahindra hasn’t yet revealed the exact rang,e or battery-spec of the XUV400 electric SUV, we anticipate that, the EV will go about 350 kilometers on a single charge. In terms of peak power, expect the electric motor to make over 140 Bhp – a number that the Nexon EV makes.
Mahindra is likely to equip XUV400, with a single front-wheel-drive electric motor, making around 150hp, and it is likely to deliver 250 kilometers of true range.
In terms of equipment, Mahindra is expected to add a larger, AdrenoX infotainment system. The carmaker could also equip the XUV400, with ADAS features.
The XUV400 will kick-start Mahindra’s EV strategy, and will be followed by the first born electric SUV's, towards the end of 2024. The model will go up against the Tata Nexon EV, which currently has no direct rivals, and prices are likely to start from under 15 lakh rupees.
