Beautiful early-18th century full leather European binding by this renowned author of worldly wisdom and life philosophy. Work is composed of 300 maxims about life, with his observations and thoughts about them.
Mottled calf covers, spine with raised bands, compartments richly gilt ornamented and decorated with floral devices. Book opens to the engraving, lacks front free end paper. Front joint cracked, covers remain strongly attached, small chipping at spine ends.
Beautiful antiquarian book, a complete, clean and pleasing example displaying a nice age patina, any age flaws easy to forgive or overlook.
Book measures: 6 1/2" H X 4 1/4" W.
